Special Theater Arts of Raleigh STAR

Special Theater Arts of Raleigh (S.T.A.R.) is a community based organization that was organized and began activities sixteen years and twelve productions ago.  The organization received a state grant to develop and produce a single theater production that would raise public awareness of the abilities of young people with disabilities.  After the initial production, highly involved parents continued this endeavor entirely through self effort and the volunteer involvement of highly skilled and talented theater directors, teachers, coaches, and student assistants.  As a result, the troupe has matured and become an ensemble, showcasing their constantly growing and expanding abilities and talents.  Community theater aficionados have offered rave reviews of their productions, often amazed at the skills and talents of these young people.  The participants of this troupe have changed over the years, but the focus and direction have only grown stronger.  Productions are free to the public.
