Smorgasbird the Owl

This nest box was built in January 2022 with a POE camera from Green-Backyard (https://green-backyard.com/collections/bird-box-camera/products/ip-bird-box-camera/). Occupants were first noticed in November 2022.

The first owl seen in the stream was named Smorgasbird, so that's the origin of the name of this channel, even if some other animal takes up residence later. So far, sightings include eastern screech-owl (red phase), southern flying squirrel, eastern gray squirrel, and rat snake. Eastern screech-owls have very broad diets.

Prey that Smorgasbird has stashed in the box (and has been identifiable) includes wood frogs (LOTS of wood frogs), an eastern bluebird, and a cedar waxwing.
