Smirian's Upscaling Project

The possibilities of latest software technology allows us to restore and upscale videos without loss of quality. This project concentrates on live music recordings up until the year 2000.
Here are some tips about conserving videos in good quality for long term:
- Know your video, use the small free tool Mediainfo
- Use the free software Handbrake for converting/upscaling
- Convert/upscale over CPU not GPU (takes much longer, quality is much better)
- Deinterlace all interlaced videos (amongst others all DVDs, Tv-Streams, some Blu-rays). My choice to do that is Bwdif+Bob+Doubling the FPS
- For upscaling of lower quality videos use the Denoise function with the options NLMeans+Light+Film for smoothing
