These methods of invoking and worshipping the Divine in various forms are part of the Indian practice of Bhakti Yoga (Yoga of worship and devotion), which aims to bring us closer to the Divine in various forms.
Kirtan is the singing of Divine Names or mantras in alternating chanting, a lead singer sings a chant or a mantra and this is then repeated by everyone together.
