So much of Ruby’s innovation, including core development and many important open source projects, is happening in Japan. 

At the same time, the wider global community is pushing forward with frameworks, tooling, and open source work that many Japanese developers rarely encounter.

Both sides are doing amazing things, yet both often feel disconnected from each other. That’s the gap we hope to close.

We’re starting in Japan because the divide is particularly visible there. Japan is the birthplace of Ruby, yet many Japanese Rubyists feel far from the Rails ecosystem, and many global Rubyists have no idea what’s being built in Japan or how to contribute. Cultural and language barriers mean that important work isn’t widely shared, and opportunities for collaboration get missed on both sides.
