Montana Geology with the Rock Doctor

This is the first step in a new venture, "Montana Geology with the Rock Doctor." My name is Dr. Rob Thomas and I'm a Regents Professor of Geology at the University of Montana Western. I co-authored Roadside Geology of Yellowstone Country (2011) and Roadside Geology of Montana (2020), and have over 37 years of experience with Montana geology. I'll cover all aspects of Montana geology using explanations that are easy to understand by enthusiasts, yet detailed enough to be of value to professionals. Some presentations will be lectures from my campus home, while others will be field excursions from around the state. The goal will be to learn about the geologic history of Big Sky Country from the Archean to the present.
