Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association

The Rio Grande Valley Diabetes Association (RGVDA) was formed in 2007, by area doctors and business leaders, to provide diabetes education to the residents of Hidalgo County. Our focus is to be an independent and local not-for-profit diabetes association for Hidalgo County. This allows us to provide programs and services tailored specifically for our area, and guarantees that all funds generated by the RGVDA are used for the residents of Hidalgo County. We are the second organization of this nature in the State of Texas.

The RGVDA's vision is to promote a healthy community by minimizing the impact of diabetes in Hidalgo County.

Our mission is dedicated to the prevention of diabetes and its complications through educational services, early detection and awareness as follows: Diabetes Management, Meal Planning, Outreach Programs, Cooking Classes, In school prevention programs for children, Support groups for adults and children, Diabetes self management and Physical Activity
