RICHARD DRESSER’S 17 published plays have been produced in New York, regional theater, and throughout Europe. They include Rounding Third and Below the Belt, both of which were made into films. Recent plays are Our Shrinking Shrinking World and You Might Already be a Winner! His novel It Happened Here came out before the 2020 election and predicted everything up until Tuesday. He updated it for the podcast It Happened Here 2024 starring John Turturro, Edie Falco, and Tony Shalhoub. He co-produced (with Willie Reale) a documentary, Devout and Dangerous, about Daniel and Philip Berrigan, anti-war priests, and wrote the book for the musicals Johnny Baseball and Good Vibrations, the Beach Boys Broadway musical. He taught screenwriting in the Columbia University film school for ten years. He is President and founding member of the Writers Guild Initiative, which does writing workshops with a mission of giving a voice to populations not being heard.
