Rautio Piano Trio

Jane Gordon (violin), Victoria Simonsen (cello), Jan Rautio (piano).

Blending historical insight with fresh interpretations, the Rautio Trio has established a distinctive place on today’s chamber music scene. With a rare versatility, they perform on both modern and period instruments, bringing 18th- and 19th-century masterworks vividly to life. They are in the midst of recording the complete Beethoven piano trios on fortepiano, a landmark project whose first volumes have received glowing reviews, including 5 stars in the BBC Music Magazine.

They also commission new music and gave the world premiere of a work by Brian Elias at Kings Place, London — a concert listed in the Guardian’s Top Ten Cultural Events and live-streamed worldwide.

The London-based Rautio Piano Trio is gaining widespread recognition for performances that are deeply informed and powerfully expressive — and for devising distinctive programmes that are both thematic and rich in musical narrative.
