Queer U Stories

The history of sexual and gender diversity in the city of Utrecht.
It is generally known that the city of Utrecht has a special history, but that Utrecht also has a special history when it comes to sexual and gender diversity is much less known. A random selection: the vibrant pink life at the beginning of the 18th century; the sodomite trials that began on Domplein in 1730; the secret meetings in the 1950s on the Oude- and Nieuwegracht, university research in the 1980s and 1990s; the more than 70 LGBTI+ organizations today. The aim of this project is to collect this wealth of knowledge and make it accessible. The envisioned result is a vibrant community that captures and disseminates the rich pink life of our city.
