Protecting The East

Protecting The East (PTE) is a community health project of United Community Centers, providing a comprehensive and sustainable approach to HIV prevention education. PTE's mission is to create an environment in East New York where young people can develop safe and healthy relationships.

PTE works to improve access to HIV prevention information and services, and provides opportunities for young people to lead sex education efforts among their peers.

Videos are produced by youth in East New York as a part of Protecting The East's youth peer education and social marketing internships. Through these opportunities, youth learn to education their peers in their community and raise awareness around sexual health and HIV prevention through outreach education, workshops, by developing social media and marketing materials, and representing the program at community events.
