Pick Up Sticks Hockey (PUSH)

Pick Up Sticks Hockey (PUSH) is a grassroots hockey organization focused on positive and supportive community play and efforts to Grow the Game of hockey. Originally founded as a pick up hockey group for kids, women, and coed players in Gilbertsville, PA and surrounding areas, Pick Up Sticks Hockey rapidly evolved to take action as a sports advocacy group focused on growing the game and breaking down barriers to playing hockey.

The original mission of course – was to save and improve the crumbling ball hockey rink at New Hanover Community Park. Two 11-year-old girls stood up at a township meeting in a room full of adults to save the rink. The Flyers caught wind of the story and generously donated $200,000 to rebuild the rink brand new.

PUSH became a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing positive access to ball hockey for kids of all ages, and also advocating for growing the game for girls and women of all ages through our annual PUSH Your Limits Tournament.
