Part Time Mystics

Portland duo Part-Time Mystics (guitarist and vocalist Andrzej Kozlowski and drummer, percussionist, and vocalist Craig Carney) move easily between hushed, fingerpicked introspection and full-throttle indie rock, sometimes within the same song. Both are invested in the craft of songwriting. Kozlowski brings musical sensibilities shaped by years of absorbing world music; Carney brings jazz training, West African percussion studies, and a resume that runs from the U.S. Army Band to Portland's Citizen Lane and Portland Samba. The echoes you hear are Cat Stevens, Tom Petty, José González, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jack Johnson, but the voice is their own. The songs turn on nature, place, belonging, and the texture of human connection.
