Owumi Tales

My name is Owumi. I write and narrate African stories — the kind we grew up hearing on the veranda at night, and the kind that still play out quietly in real homes today.

Some of my stories are drawn from things I've seen and heard across Nigerian life — in Lagos traffic, in village compounds, at weddings and funerals where the real drama happens off to the side. Others are folktales and original fiction I write myself, built on the moral bones of the stories my own elders told me. I'll always tell you which is which.

What ties them together is people. A mother pushed too far. A man who lost everything and built it back. A secret that should have stayed buried. I'm drawn to the moment someone's life turns — the choice, the betrayal, the reckoning — and what they did next.

If you love long-form African storytelling told slowly and properly, with room to breathe, you'll feel at home here. Pull up a chair.
