Orquesta Escuela de Tango Emilio Balcarce

The Orquesta Escuela de Tango Emilio Balcarce is an educational program whose objective is to rescue the oral transmission and orchestral styles of Tango. This orchestra was created in 2000 by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires City Government and depends on the Dirección General de Enseñanza Artística. Every year, this program receives young musicians from our country and abroad. The students have the opportunity to play together with great Maestros of the genre who are still in activity and who provide interpretation guidelines specific to each style. The orchestra direction is in charge of one the most important bandoneon players, the Maestro Victor Lavallén, a fundamental figure in instrumental tango, a founding member of the Sexteto Tango and bandoneonist of the Osvaldo Pugliese orchestra, in addition as arranger of many of the most emblematic songs in Don Osvaldo's repertoire, such as "Gallo ciego", "Bandoneón arrabalero" and "Lorenzo".
