Obitania

Obitania is a dungeon synth project founded in 1999 in Ciudad Real, Spain. It began as a personal and minimalistic expression by Obitus, exploring inner landscapes through dark ambient and medieval folk. Its first release, Pagan Crystal Sphere (2002), laid the foundation for a conceptual world centered on the mystical “Crystal Sphere.” In 2003, an EP titled Wolfmoon Shadows was released, now lost to time, with only a few images remaining. After an 18-year silence, Obitania returned with A Plague Tale (2020), a medieval ambient album inspired by the atmosphere of the global pandemic. Musically, Obitania shifts from raw, lo-fi ambient to more elaborate medieval compositions, evoking solitude, ritual, and introspection. Entirely instrumental, it channels the creator’s personal emotions, sensations, and evolving state of mind. Obitania remains a studio project, embracing timeless themes through sound and silence, memory and myth.
