npuforge

Official channel of the npuforge project.

FreeBSD drivers and an OPNsense plugin that bring retired Sophos XGS appliances back as open firewalls, every front port included, with the coprocessor forwarding connections and IPsec in hardware.

This channel follows os-xgs-npu from the lab bench. First the story of how it was built and where it stands, then step by step installs, then everyday use once it settles. Everything runs on real appliances (an XGS 136 and an XGS 3300 in the lab, and more models with their owners), and every number shown is measured.

Code, issues and ready-made images are on GitHub. Docs for each model are on npuforge.org.

Some narration and graphics may be AI generated. The hardware, the screens and the measurements are always real.
