Nofret

Nofret is an iPhone app that trains one thing: knowing any note on the guitar neck in a fraction of a second, without having to think about it.

Most guitarists can work out a note if they get a few seconds. That's too slow to use in the middle of a song. Nofret times every answer, not just whether it was right, and spends each drill on the positions that are still slowing you down, until recall stops feeling like recall.

The videos here show how the app works and the method behind it: retrieval practice, naming and finding as two separate skills, and why speed is the number that matters.
