National Foundation for Retired Service Animals

The National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA) is a UK charity, supporting retired dogs & horses the police; prison; fire & rescue; border force; National Crime Agency; as well as specialist search dogs from the NHS, with financial assistance for medical & veterinary costs.

When animals retire, all funding stops. No pensions are available to them, & because of their age & training, insurance is a challenge.

The NFRSA was founded by The Countess Bathurst in 2022, and its sole purpose is to support these extraordinary animals when they fall sick – which can inevitably happen as age advances.

To date, the charity has given over £120,000 in grants, with over 400 members registered, which is a free process to owners. 

The NFRSA’s motto – ‘Protect Our Protectors’ and their passion is to celebrate & support the magnificent animals who have given so much of themselves & their lives to keeping the public safe – often in ways we could never imagine.
