Navan Parish (St Mary's Parish, Navan)

St Mary's parish is a community of families in the Boyne-Blackwater valley. Following the suppression of the Augustinian Monastery of St Mary on Canon Row in 1539, the families of Navan continued to invoke Our Lady as patron of their town. The current St Mary's Church was begun in the 1830s. In the 1970s, the Church of St Oliver' Plunkett was built in Blackcastle.
