My Wild Holm - Wilderness Island

Life on an Off-Grid Wilderness Island in British Columbia, Canada.

Welcome to My Wild Holm! We're Ryan and Melodi. In 2022, we bought a 62-acre island on a remote lake in the Canadian wilderness. Since then, we've been building an off-grid homestead from the ground up, one project, one mistake, and one hard-earned lesson at a time.

Follow our adventures in off-grid living, remote island life, DIY building, milling our own lumber, solar power, greenhouse gardening, and the challenges of wilderness homesteading.

We're not trying to leave the modern world behind. We're creating a self-reliant homestead that combines wilderness freedom with electricity, internet access, and the modern comforts that make long-term island living possible.

Join us for the work, weather, wildlife, setbacks, problem-solving and everyday adventures as we transform a raw wilderness island into a place to call home.
