May There Be a Road

Yol Bolsun is a phrase used by one of my favorite authors, Louis L’Amour, in his book “ The Walking Drum,” which takes place in 12th-century Europe in the Middle East, following the life of a Nomadic adventurer and scholar.

The word was used like we would say safe travels or have a blessed journey.

Translated, it means “ May there be a road.”

About the time we started realizing that we were going to need to take drastic steps to help my son, I was rereading this book and felt that it was the perfect name for the journey we were about to embark on.

A journey with a lot of unanswered questions and open-ended answers. Autism is a vast spectrum. Parents of autistic children face varying challenges in today’s world. Our son seems uniquely blessed with a very challenging yet beautiful profile that makes him difficult to work with. He has been rejected by almost every type of therapy available to us. So we took matters into our own hands and this is our story.
