Massachusetts Health Council

The Massachusetts Health Council (MHC) is a statewide organization dedicated to creating a culture of health in Massachusetts by promoting programs and policies that enable all residents to enjoy the greatest possible health and wellness in safe, thriving communities.

The Council was founded in 1920 when nine organizations joined to create a campaign to stop the spread of tuberculosis. For one-hundred years the Council has collaborated to improve health and wellness and promote preventative care. The Council led efforts to advance immunization of school-aged children, fluoridation of water, smoke-free workplaces, improved school nutrition, and ensure equitable access to health care.
