The College was founded in 1963, and is  affiliated to the university of Kerala. Known as a college with a difference, Loyola College of Social Sciences was established at Thiruvananthapuram by Jesuits, a global missionary network committed to excellence in education with social justice. Affiliated to the University of Kerala, the College offers post graduate programmes in Sociology, Social Work, Human Resource Management, Counseling Psychology and Disaster Management and is a recognized research center for Doctoral Study in social science. A full-fledged extension wing, Loyola Extension Services, is a unique feature of the College. True to the Jesuit tradition of Magis, Loyola College of Social Sciences strives to extend the benefits of higher education to people, especially the vulnerable and the marginalized.
