Lillian Murphy/ Lillian Wright

This is a collection of songs recorded by Lillian Murphy (Lilian Wright) aka "Lily". I had hoped to upload this while she was still alive so she could enjoy seeing that her music reached more people. So this is now in her memory. 

Lily was born in Ocean Falls B.C., lived briefly in Vancouver and spent her childhood in Powell River. She was a lively and verbal child and by the age of three, she was dancing and singing “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” for anyone who would listen (especially during Sunday outings on Vancouver trolley cars.) 

Lily won the Powell River's first Foley Music award for voice in 1945 and moved to Vancouver at 19 to pursue her dream of singing and dancing with Theatre Under the Stars, under the tutelage of Glyndwr Jones. When finances proved to be an obstacle, she found other work, as well as singing in choirs and as a soloist at Royal Oak Funeral Chapel. Her beautiful mezzo soprano voice melted the hearts of many.
