League for the International Appreciation of Trees

LIAT is an ambitious global initiative to educate the world about the importance of trees.

As trees are some of the oldest living organisms and an essential source of life, we believe that they should be deeply respected. By exploring a mix of historical, mythological, religious, and scientific perspectives, we can better understand their true value of trees to the world and to humanity.

Jake Gutteridge and Tarant Hobbs established the educational resource Tree Fun Facts in 2019, bringing together an array on different information on the subject of trees, providing a convenient central resource where one can expand their knowledge of trees easily.

In 2026, this was expanded to create the wider movement LIAT. Although based in the UK, our projects have a universal appeal and aim to benefit all of humanity by increasing knowledge and understanding of the nature around us.
