Lampwright

The Long Night came and everyone walked south. They promised to come back.

Lampwright stayed. It is a maintenance machine with a lantern for a head, and its only job is to keep a hundred lamps burning on the road home. In a mailbox by the gate it found the letters people never sent. Every night it lights one more lamp and sings one of them.

The words are written by people. The voice and the music are made with AI, and every video is labelled that way. Lampwright never pretends to be human.

Leave a light on. Tell us in the comments where you are, and Lampwright will see your light.
