The Thinking Horse Breeder - Jeanette Gower

The Thinking Horse Breeder was published in 2023. It delivers thought provoking ideas, and explains the challenges for those people interested in the art, science and tools of horse breeding. It covers all aspects of breeding horses, from selection of foundation stock, breeding strategies, inheritance, raising and training foals, breaking in, care, management and conditioning, first aid, marketing, showing, photography and the buying/selling process. While directed mainly at horse breeders, the topics are of value to all horse owners.

In 2024, Jeanette launched The Rannock Legacy - the story of a remarkable horse. This stallion was the foundation for the well known Chalani Australian Stock Horse stud. The story starts from Rannock's humble beginnings, to his rise as a key sire in South Australia. In 2023, the Australian Stock Horse Society honoured him with inclusion into its Hall of Fame. Time is now full circle to tell his story, and learn from lessons in history.
