Teen therapist discussing different aspects of working with adolescents and their parents using a Modern Teen Therapy approach. Topics include rapport building, silent teens, avoiding power struggles, bringing forward useful conversation, managing combative clients, and working with teens who are anxious or depressed and caught up in the rabbit holes of social media and vaping....and others.

Modern Teen Therapy is an approach for working with adolescents and young adults that I developed over the past 35 years. It focuses on relating authentically, without props or gimmicks or games, and on generating conversations that are compelling enough to clients that they come back for more.

To find out more about this approach, read my latest book, Therapeutic Conversations with Adolescents: Helping Teens in Therapy Thrive in an Ultra-Competitive, Screen-Saturated World (Routledge, 2023).

This channel also includes material for parents, including a section entitled "Bad Parenting Advice."
