Independent films. Forgotten histories. Stories worth telling.

DayLight is the online creative home of filmmaker, writer, and producer James Day.

From historical documentaries and investigations into overlooked chapters of the past to original short films, animation, cinematic experiments, and reflections on the movies themselves, this channel is devoted to the possibilities of storytelling.

Some projects revisit familiar events from unfamiliar perspectives. Others bring entirely new stories to the screen. All reflect a lifelong fascination with history, imagination, and the moving image.

Established as a creative idea in 1997, DayLight is an independent filmmaking endeavor dedicated to making the kinds of films I've always wanted to see.
