The italian Ledger

The Italian Ledger is a register of Italian families: their names, their departures and their fortunes.

If your great-grandparents left Sicily, Calabria, Campania, Abruzzo or the Veneto for New York, Boston, Toronto or Melbourne, this channel is about them. Each chapter opens one page of the ledger: what your surname really means and where in Italy it comes from, why so many left and how they arrived, and the Italian families behind the brands in your kitchen.

Every fact is checked against serious sources (encyclopedias, archives, census data), and the sources are listed under each video. Archival photographs are in the public domain. The narration voice is AI-generated, and whenever AI fills a gap in the archive, we say so.

New chapters every week, in English, with an Italian audio track.

Write your surname in the comments: the next page of the ledger might be yours.
