Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE)

The Institute of the Regions of Europe (IRE) was founded in 2004. It works to strengthen the regions in a united Europe. Over 160 regions, municipalities, companies and institutions are members of our European network. The focus is on Eastern and Southeastern Europe.

Chairman is Prof. Dr. Franz Schausberger, Governor of Salzburg 1996 - 2004, Special Advisor to the EU Commission on enlargement 2016 - 2019, and since 2020 Special Advisor to the EU Commission for EU information.
