INDESEM

INDESEM (International Design Seminar) is a biennial hosted at the faculty of Architecture at the TU Delft in the Netherlands. INDESEM was first organised in 1964 by a group of students with help from Jaap Bakema and other Team X members. In 1985 the workshop was reinitiated by Herman Hertzberger, in honour of Aldo van Eyck´s retirement. Since its founding, INDESEM has had the honour of hosting internationally acclaimed architects and theorists, such as David Chipperfield, Jean Nouvel, Rem Koolhaas, Renzo Piano, Norman Foster, Shigeru Ban, Sou Fujimoto and Winy Maas.

The programme of the INDESEM seminar week consists of lectures, excursions and a workshop, all organized around a specific theme. Every edition of the seminar aims to raise awareness about this theme and its consequences for the architectural practice, in which both faculty and international students embark on a specifically themed design project.

The next edition of the seminar will be held in 2027!
