IHTC

The Research Institute in Humanism and Classical Tradition (IHTC) began to take shape in 1989, with the creation of the research group ‘Humanistas españoles’, promoted and directed by Dr. Gaspar Morocho Gayo. The growth of this first research group, which Professor Morocho directed until his passing in 2002, turning it into an ambitious coordinated project, internationally, nationally and regionally funded; encouraged an even more ambitious project: the creation of a Research Institute, capable of hosting a large group of researchers from the University of León (Spain), with extensive work in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, oriented to the study of the development and projection of both the classical tradition and Spanish Humanism in Europe and America. Multidisciplinarity and transversality have transformed the IHTC into a research centre in the Humanities, with Humanism, in its broadest sense, as its backbone.
