Hokyoji Zen Practice Community

Hokyoji Zen Practice Community strives to offer the experience of community and provide supportive and nurturing opportunities to develop and deepen a steadfast practice of mindful living, grounded in the Zen Buddhist tradition.  Under the direction of resident teacher Dokai Georgesen, it works to make residential practice in a secluded natural setting available to long-term and visiting practitioners. The southern Minnesota facility's connection to nature and its history as a sacred place of inspiration and renewal make it a unique and powerful location for communal and individual practice.  In addition, it is the only place in the Midwest where Zen teachers can bring their own sanghas and lead their own sesshins and retreats in their own styles and traditions. Our intention is to maintain and develop facilities and programs for the purpose of Buddhist practice and study that honor the memory and vision of our founder, Dainin Katagiri-Roshi.
