Herr Hutt

Herr Hutt Bio

Herr Hutt is the high-voltage, late-night alter-ego of Amsterdam-based producer and visual artist Hank Smid. If his work under Echo Dept. is a deep dive into the subconscious, Herr Hutt is the physical manifestation of the Amsterdam underground—driving, playful and relentlessly rhythmic.

The Herr Hutt project is built on the philosophy that techno should be as provocative as it is functional. Drawing from a wide range of cultural touchstones—from cinematic philosophy to modern digital habits—the sound is characterized by:
* Peak-Time Energy: High-octane basslines designed for the height of a set.
* Cultural Satire: Tracks like "Swipe Swipe" and "There is no Spoon" showcase a wit rarely found in the minimalist scene, blending heavy production with sharp thematic concepts.
* Industrial Textures: A gritty, hardware-driven edge that reflects the industrial landscapes of northern Amsterdam.
