A Girl Scout Gold Award is a large project chosen that focuses on an issue in a community or in the world that is important and that the Girl Scout cares about. By conducting research, finding the root cause, forming a team, making and conducting a plan to address the root cause, and working through challenges, girls are able to make an impact on a certain issue in their community or worldwide. 

I chose deforestation awareness as my Girl Scout Gold Award Project because my main passion is environmental science and how it affects everyone. After years of focusing on trees, going on hikes with my Girl Scout troop, and learning about a growing number of problems with trees worldwide in school and from my own research, I felt motivated to bring awareness to the global battle of deforestation.
