Healing After Psychiatry

My name is Elissa, and I know this road from the inside.

In 1996, a doctor put me on my first psychiatric medication after diagnosing me with panic disorder. By 2002, a psychiatrist had reframed my symptoms as bipolar disorder, which later became treatment-resistant depression. That pushed me into nearly three decades of polydrugging. Over 28 years I received 47 different meds, along with ECT, TMS, and ketamine infusions. In 2023 I tapered off all my meds over one year (not a hyperbolic taper). The withdrawal was debilitating.

I met Joanna (@lifeaftermeds) through a support group, and we became healing buddies in 2024. After co-leading Joanna’s support groups, I am now a healing coach as well.

Healing without psych meds has been so hard but so transformative. I can walk with you through this unpredictable journey into your own beautifully-expanded life. Whether you are tapering or are completely off, I offer support, education, and compassion in your own path to whole wellness.
