Hank Off Grid

My name is Hank Ross. I am seventy, and I live off the grid at the end of a road the plough does not come down.

I sold up in the lower forty eight, bought raw land, and paid for every lesson in cash and in cold. So when a video tells you that you can disappear on ten thousand dollars, or buy a house in Italy for one euro, or move to a state where nobody will bother you, I go and read the county ordinance and the eligibility rules, and then I tell you the part the brochure leaves out.

Every episode is five real places, what they actually cost, and what each one quietly takes off you in exchange.

THE BOOK — The Real Price of Getting Out
Everything I wish somebody had put in front of me before I bought: the costs nobody lists, the permits that decide it, and how to call the office before the bargain eats your year.

New video every couple of days. The real numbers are in the comments, and they are usually better than mine.
