Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere

Recognised internationally as a world class environment for people and nature, the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere covers more than 9,700km² of land and sea in southwest Scotland, and is home to more than 105,000 people.

Galloway and Southern Ayrshire is one of a global network of more than 740 UNESCO Biospheres with a shared remit to support conservation, learning, sustainable development, and action on climate change. In this region the GSA Biosphere Partnership is a registered Scottish charity (SC044137) which works through dynamic collaborations across the public, private and third sectors, helping to create sustainable communities, and to promote and share good environmental practice in business and land management. We are committed to celebrating the unique natural and cultural heritage for which our UNESCO Biosphere is known around the world.
