Goat Rock NZ

Off-grid life and rewilding on a remote New Zealand bush block, with a family of five, the occasional goat, and no idea what we're doing (yet).

In late 2025 we bought 23 hectares (about 57 acres) of bush in remote rural Marlborough, NZ. There's no mains power and no cell reception, so we run on solar and Starlink. Pine forest on one side, conservation land on the rest.

The plan: set the block up for off-grid living, build a house (hopefully sooner rather than later), and do our part to return the land to native forest.

On this channel:
• Off-grid systems: solar, water, Starlink, and whatever breaks next
• Cleaning up, clearing, and rewilding the land
• The house build, from bare land to moving in
• Wildlife, the southern night sky, and the occasional sandfly attack

We'll show you what works, and what doesn't.
