Ghungroo School of Dance

Established in 2008, Ghungroo School of Dance is a premier Kathak dance school based in Melbourne, Australia. Lessons are conducted in a peaceful, relaxed and fun environment. Small class size is maintained at all times to ensure individual attention is paid to the needs of each student. Major focus of the school is to ignite a love for this North Indian classical style dance form in the minds of its students. Smt. Sumona Bhattacharya, the Creative Head of Ghungroo School of Dance, is a disciple of Padmashree Rani Karnaa - a legendary Kathak artist from India. Students of the dance school have routinely performed on stage at annual concerts and major events in Melbourne and Sydney and get opportunity to participate in workshops with leading artists from India such as Pt. Birju Maharaj and Vidushi Saswati Sen, tabla maestro Pt. Abhijit Bannerjee and others.
