Traces of Truth with Mustafa Bostancıoğlu

Gerçeğin İzleri — The History Detective

I stand where the story happened. Either I'm standing on the stone, or I have the document on my desk. If I have neither, I don't tell it.

I film the history of Istanbul and Anatolia on location:
mosques, cisterns, city walls, monasteries, churches and museums. History and mystery documentaries covering the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) and Ottoman periods, told from the record.

Every claim carries its source on screen:
KAYIT — record: document, inscription, register
RİVAYET — hearsay: folk account
YORUM — my own interpretation
GÖZLEM — what the camera sees

So you can tell evidence from story.

Topics: Istanbul history · Byzantine and Ottoman architecture · Mimar Sinan · cisterns and underground Istanbul · Black Sea monasteries · Sumela Monastery · Trabzon · archaeology and museums · unsolved historical mysteries

Turkish narration with English subtitles.
New episodes Fridays at 19:00 (GMT+3).

Not hearsay — the record.
