Hi, I'm Laura, and welcome to Food Prood.

Over 24 years ago I planted a few tomato plants in a little garden in Michigan. I had no idea that one small garden would grow into a life centered around gardening, homesteading, cooking from scratch, preserving food, raising animals, and teaching others these practical skills.

My mission is simple: preserve the old-fashioned knowledge that's disappearing with every generation and pass it on before it's forgotten.

Here you'll find real life above the 45th parallel—gardens, sourdough, bees, pigs, sheep, herbs, preserving the harvest, and plenty of lessons learned along the way. You'll see the successes, the failures, the storms, and the everyday moments that make this life so rewarding.
