Friends of Historic Germantown, NY

Friends of Historic Germantown is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization established in 2021 and chartered by the NYS Board of Regents. We formed to fill a void in the southwestern corner of Columbia County, which until 2021, lacked any historical and preservation organization. FOHG assists local historians in securing collections, historic preservation, and community engagement grants.

To this end, we work with the Germantown History Department to preserve and restore the 1767 Maple Avenue Reformed Sanctity Parsonage. Together, we apply for grants that will bring greater accessibility and high-quality exhibits and programs on local history to the community. We believe that preserving, interpreting, and making rich local histories easily accessible is the foundation of a successful community partnership.
