Friends of the Los Alamos County Libraries

The Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries (FLACL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1978 to support the entire Los Alamos County Library System — Mesa Public Library, the White Rock Branch Library, and the Lora Belle Cole Library at the Los Alamos County Detention Center.

We operate the volunteer-run Friends Bookstore inside Mesa Public Library. Open since 1994, the bookstore is staffed entirely by volunteers and open seven days a week, year-round (closing only when the library does). All bookstore profits are returned to the libraries as a block grant they can use where it’s needed most.

FLACL also partners with the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation to award annual scholarships to high school seniors.
