Ginger's Feather Light Homestead

Lifelong nature lover, craftsperson and adventurer, my dream is to build a thrifty, climate-resilient home and restore the native grassland on my land in southeast New Mexico.

A native of the east coast, I moved to the Southwest to enjoy a lower cost of living and spend more time outdoors year round. Finding and purchasing my land was the first step toward building a home and community that manifests my values while meeting my needs as a senior citizen.

I was raised in a suburban environment but the Nature always beckoned me to exist in a more natural place, so I gravitated toward the woods or the marshes or the bays around me for recreation and solace.

An environmentalist since the first Earth Day in 1970, my concerned for the Earth being devoured by overconsumption and reckless corporate greed has movtivated me to build my own home using sustainable practices and materials. I hope I can inspire others to do the same, healing the earth one house at a time.
