Farmers' Bank of Rustico and the Doucet House

The Farmers Bank of Rustico Museum & Doucet House is located in Rustico, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Here we have the precusor to the Credit Union Movement in North America - built in 1861, and operated between 1864-1894. Also referred to as, "the smallest bank in the world." 
The Farmers Bank was established by the visionary Father Georges Belcourt who came to Rustico as Parish priest in 1859. His goal was to help the Acadian community and families to better themselves by establishing a bank of their own.
Also here at our historic site we have the oldest house on Prince Edward Island, The Doucet Log House, built by Jean Doucet in 1772.
