Failed Student Turned Teacher

Welcome to my Youtube channel. I share reflections on youth resilience, trauma-informed education, teaching practices for motivating disenfranchised youth, leveraging technology in service of those same learners, and the realities facing today’s schools.

I am former disenfranchised and failed student who didn’t graduate from high school, but grew up to become an educator focused on transforming learning for students like me who don’t come to school ready to learn every day. I have worked across four states (Washington, Illinois, California, and Oregon), seven school districts, and more schools, teaching every grade from 6th to 12th. With a wealth of experience as an English teacher and an instructional and technology coach, I am now a technology teacher at a middle school in Portland, Oregon.
