Erinn Maxwell

History has a plot problem.

Dead popes on trial. Sword-wielding opera singers. Murderous husbands, disastrous romances, and historical figures who desperately needed an editor.

Dead Plot Society is history for book people—the true stories so ridiculous, dramatic, romantic, horrifying, or suspiciously convenient that you’d never get away with putting them in a novel.

Hosted by novelist Erinn Maxwell, each Society Meeting digs into what actually happened, what probably happened, and what belongs firmly in the allegedly drawer, before giving history the novelist’s notes.

The genre. The tropes. The main character. The plot holes. The editor’s notes. And the details fiction wouldn’t dare.

Because characters have arcs. Real people have lives. And history?

History does not give a shit about pacing.

Researched like history. Told like gossip.

Society meeting is officially in session.
